It’s been a while since I blog during office hour. mwhahaha. yep, workload getting heavier, meeting getting frequent and constant chasing of clients and deadlines becoming everyday routine. Well, only facebook keep my sanity & of course, bottomless coffee.

Yep, I’m juggling my time on 6 projects on hand right now. WTF. Six! I’m on my second draft for the Labuan project and pending for review.

While updating Chapter 2 of the EIA (Chapter 2 on the EIA requiring information on the EIA Study Team for the Project), I was stumbled upon one column called Areas of Study in EIA and Registered Areas (Only apply for registered consultants, me:not!).  I am supposed to key in the former for myself as in my contribution to the report. This will eventually, overtime.. will be used for me to register as a consultant (after 7 years of working experience for BSc/equivalent and/or 5 years of working experience for MSc/MEng/equivalent – correct me if I’m wrong).

So, I don’t know what Areas of Study in EIA shall I put for myself. Im clueless. Shall I put scheduled waste management? Solid waste management? GIS? Air quality and odor? Bluergh. I have NO idea.

This issue interrelated with what Masters I want to do next year. Shall I continue my study on MSc? or MEng, MTech or MEngSc? I don’t even know what I want to do my for my dissertation paper.

I need help.

Or at least, for now.. I need to know what I shall type in that column.

Wow… somebody has been keeping in track of the development around KK

And to share with you all, the things that will keep me busy in the next one month is shown in one of Malaysia’s premier development forum. Ha. ha. Cool! :)

I know, it is already listed in the website since end of last month. :)

I went to 1Borneo again with Jessie & Justyn for a sushi lunch date. I had the most horrible sushi-moment just now! argh. I give zero for the service! and 1-star for the food. yucks.

I missed my economic-Jusco 8.90RM sushi set in Midvalley! and I still prefer the food in Hana Japanese Restaurant, City Mall. 2 thumbs up for Hana! The best service, great sushi, great ambience. TOTAL japanese-class sushi experience. :)

My next trip to Hana’s, I want to sit next to the aquarium. ah. :)

Need to clean up my room now & to start preparing for my Project plan since I was given a month or so to finish up the final report. so yeah, aja aja hwaiting! LOL. eh, korean language pulak. mwhahaha.

It is a norm to have a power-shut so frequently here at the Land below the Wind. So if you are new here, don’t be panic. Relax & curse every second you can and walla! The power will be back on, in freakin’ jiffy of time. dang! I was enjoying myself during the bodyjam session when suddenly around 6.40 pm, the whole of City Mall blanketed with darkness. The instructor was just about to combine all the latino cum hiphop moves into one set of movement when suddenly the power got cut-off. I waited until 7.30 pm before going back home. meh! Thought it’s going to be just in an hour of darkness, but it lasted 3 friggin’ hours. meh!

Nothing much happening today at work, except that I went to the EPD with the boss & discussed the current situation of my projects, both my mixed dev & quarry. ah. I can’t discuss much in detail here due to ethics (so my dear stalker reader, you got to ask me in person if you want to know more on the status of my work, meh!). I met with the previous officer & technician and later being introduced to the head of division.

I submitted my first EMP draft to the boss today! yeay! I’m 1 day early of submitting the draft. :)

Tomorrow I have to attend the consultant meeting for my second project as the boss will be away for the seminar. dang. There will be the biggest developer, C&S Engineers, Architect, M&E, and even Traffic consultants will be there. ah. Some more, there will be KK & KL consultants for the aforementioned parties. I have yet to decide on the other executive I’m going to drag to the meeting.

I got to study the DP & earthwork plan for tomorrow meeting. I’ll blog again later. ah.

After a long 4-days break, I can’t believe I love the monday workload. I know, I know, you must be thinking, what’s wrong with this girl, lovin’ first day of working after a long break & it’s monday? LOL.

I do, I do! (making the voice of Lisa in answering Homer changing topic from the granddad to waffles in Simpson the movie).  :P

Today I went to the Project site again with the boss, technician, EPD officers & the Project Proponent. It was a refreshing experience as it require the 4wd to go up to the quarry face to drift due to the soft muddy soil & a walk to the site as well. Later on, after breakfast in the famous Ngau chap in Menggatal, me & the technician went to conduct socio-economic survey surrounding the Project site. On top of that, we were asked by the EPD officer to check where the point source of gravity water used by the nearest settlement to the site. Phew. Finally went back to the office around 3 pm.

Upon reaching the office, the boss asked me to fax letter to another Project proponent in KL regarding the required information for the EIA. The email stated that I should fax it before 4 but I was told about it when it was already 4.06pm. LOL.

I, then rushed to the gym to catch up with the bodyjam session. I introduced to the instructor gym as it would be my first bodyjam class with him. His name is D, btw. (I can’t publish his real name here, sorry). I rawk in the session, again. ha ha. I can’t wait for the wednesday ‘freestyle’ session! :) Supposingly wednesday 7.30pm session is for latino dance workout but the instructor would be on leave until saturday.

Tomorrow would be another interesting day, hopefully. Until then! I’m exhausted from all the workload & workout today. Nite! :)

The third day, I become more relax & casual with colleagues in the office. Well, particularly to my assistant & the girls from the other division as well. We talked & joked around a lot too. I helped the other girl to troubleshoot her computer connection but the cable seems to be the problem. ha.ha.

Things that I learned today: how to handle photocopy & fax machines. LOL. Even though I got a fax machine at home, but I don’t really bother to learn how to use it. I learned the process of the EIA too; what kind of letter shall I send to the EPD, the client etc, number of copies & so on. I learned the other division task as well. Theirs job looks more fun than me. Monthly or quarter yearly they have to go to the site & bring back qualitative or quantitative samples & the make report out of it.

My nature of work would be more into making report, chasing client for project plan & other details, site assessment & even socio-economic survey. Argh. On top of that, EIA supposed to be a group project; it means that a few experts in different field will make the report (i.e. Biologist, Socio-Economist, Geologist and any other expertise depending on the project). The assistant told me just now, in this firm, those executive assigned to that project will do the WHOLE report. I was like, OMFG! 1 EIA report is like 1 Thesis project. AND I have to do at least 4 projects in a year! SO, 4 F-in’ thesis-like report I got to do! Argh! Sounds F-U-N.

Anyway, my first project scoping note send to the EPD today. I didn’t do the Scoping note though. But I did compiled it & draft the Terms of Reference for the project since I don’t know what else to do in the office. I did help d monitoring division to bind etc their report to submit today to the EPD too.

Othe than that, I managed to download MSN live to my computer. LOL. They put some restriction to connect to the net by one of my colleague managed to pass the password to me. *grin*

That’s all happening today in my new life. Well, I’ll update again real soon.
To people around the world, Happy new year! *gonq xi, gong xi* :)

Finally, day that I have been counting, arrived. I thought I would wake up early with a smile on my face & looking forward for the new experiences etc but I end up waking up with the thought of, ‘oh no, I gotta go to work today!’ & laugh at myself. LOL.

Luckily, I woke up extremely early today & managed to get ready before 7 am (before 7.15 am to be exact, ha ha). I had my breakfast at home & start moving to work around 7.20 am. Shoot. I thought that area would be havoc as it is an industrial area. I ended up being so, so early as I arrived around 7.30 am. Ha. ha. Lesson learned! I can even start driving from home around 7.30 am or even 7.40 am.

I thought I would be the only one reporting in today but I was wrong. Another two newcomers reporting duty today too. The guy & me will be in the EIA division while the other girl would be posted in the monitoring & audit division. Lucky her, she got someone to mentor her etc while me & the guy has to report straight to the big boss as the former employees resigned last week. So, there are only the big boss, me & the guy that will handle the EIAs. Great. Some more the guy is bio-diversity & conservation & might not be that familiar with the EIA so I got to help him understanding the process & terms. Not that I’m an expert, I, too struggling to digest the EIA report the whole day today.

She sort of assigned me to prepare for my first project. That would be a quarry in nearby area. I got to start reading up on quarry, asking around & planning ahead. They bought the plan already today & I think they did the Scoping Note to be submitted to the EPD.

Hopefully I can do more useful task tomorrow; ask around more. Today, they were SUPER busy because they need to submit another report. So yeah, I kinda freaked out to see them being SO SO busy because few weeks from now, I would be like them.

So wish me luck & I will try to maintain my high spirit level of working. I’ll blog again later. Need to take shower & I’m having headache that I need to get rid of it right now.

(2 hours later)

Hey, It’s not that bad actually! I basically know the format of the report, which project fall under which schedule; whether it is a prescribed activities yada yada. Though I know roughly of everything but hey, don’t expect me to know every LITTLE details on the report. Some chapters are too technical (hey, don’t blame me if i can’t differentiate between Granodiorite & Granophyre. I’m not a geologist, mind you!) but I do know if these rocks eroded by the rainfall & some are acidic, it will decrease the pH of the river if there is runoff from the quarry site to the nearby water body. Possible of affecting the flora & fauna of the water body as well as it is not fit for consumption at the downstream. so, yeah.

Perhaps I stressed myself out today (Just like I normally do before exams). So I shall stay cool & open up my mind to new things tomorrow. Yep. Sounds like a good plan.

After CNY, I might start going to the site which involves jungle trekking, mount climbing, 4WD adventures, chasing people for maps, plans & even a yelling from the boss. Goody! I can’t wait! ROFL.

Mua!
